YOUTH BASKETBALL

Basketball will be offered for both boys and girls that are currently in grades 1-6.

Divisions will be as follows:

1st & 2nd Grade (no Kindergarten) - 8' rims, size 27.5" ball

3rd & 4th Grade - 9' rims, 28.5" ball

5th & 6th Grade - 10' rims, 28.5" ball

Games are played on Saturdays and Sundays and practices are coach dependent.

DIVISIONS

GRADES 1-2

Grades 1-2 will practice at the elementary schools on days selected by the coach.

Only CW teams play in this age division.

Players will use 8' rims and a size 27.5" ball

Players will receive a reversible jersey with registration.

GRADES 3-4

Games will be played mainly on Sunday afternoons, with Saturday games possible when playing in other venues.

Grades 3-6 play HYAA Rec. both at home and away.

Practices start November 6th (day/times based on court availability and coach preference) and games will start in December.

Teams can expect approximately 8 games + tournament.

Players will receive a reversible jersey with registration. Grades 3-4 will play on 9' rims with a 28.5" ball.

GRADES 5-6

Games will be played mainly on Sunday afternoons, with Saturday games possible when playing in other venues.

CWJRD will continue to offer Tribe/Lady Tribe Travel basketball for those seeking a higher competition level.

Tribe/Lady Tribe participates in the Central Ohio Basketball Association (COBA) and a few additional tournaments throughout the season based on each individual team.

All teams will play on a 10' rim and 28.5" ball.

TRIBE/LADY TRIBE BASKETBALL

CWJRD will continue to offer Tribe/Lady Tribe Travel basketball for those seeking a higher competition level. These travel teams participate in the Central Ohio Basketball Association (COBA) and a few additional tournaments throughout the season.

Players will try-out for these grade-based teams in mid-October and must attend Canal Winchester Local Schools. If you are not selected for the travel team, you will be placed on one of the recreational league teams. Tribe basketball is offered for 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade boys and Lady Tribe is offered for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade girls. Travel basketball indicates a higher level of play; games are within the greater Columbus area. All teams will play on a 10' rim and 28.5" ball.

If you are interested in trying out for a travel team, please indicate so on your registration and tryout information will be sent to you. You will register at the regular fee amount. If you are selected for the travel team, the additional fees will be added to your registration. Practices will start in November. Travel teams can anticipate a 20-30 game season that includes approximately 3 tournaments. Players will receive reversible jersey and shorts and a shooting shirt.

Fee: The fee is now dependent on how many tournaments your team chooses to do and also how many players are rostered. We anticipate the fee will decrease from 2022/23 for most teams.

Little Ballers Basketball

Bally Sports Group provides children ages 4-6 years old with a fun and educational first basketball experience! Players are taught the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting, passing, rebounding, defense and the concept of game play. The curriculum incorporates teaching styles that help this age grouop build an understanding of the skills that are taught by utilizing fun terminology and engaging activities. A positive and encouraging atmosphere is created in which kids learn proper sportsmanship. Each week players participate in developmentally appropriate instruction and a modified, recreational game play. All players should wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. Players will receive a team shirt. Basketballs will be provided, however if you'd like to bring your own, please make sure name is on the ball (size 27.5).

Dates: Sundays, November 5-December 17 (no class November 26)

Time: 1:00-2:00 PM or 2:00-3:00 PM
