YOUTH BASKETBALL

Basketball will be offered for boys and girls that are currently in grades K-6.

 

Grades K-1 participate in a weekly session that works on basic skill and game knowledge development.

Grade 2 participates in a league format where teams hold practices throughout the week and participate in weekly games. This age group plays within CW only and does not have to travel outside of our district.

Grades 3-6 teams will be grade specific and play in a league with surrounding communities (FUEL League). This will include teams from Berne Union, Bloom Carroll, Fairfield Christian, Fairfield Union, Liberty Union, Millersport and other surrounding areas.

 

Practices will start in November (day/times based on court availability and coaches' preference) and games will start in December. Teams can expect approximately 8-10 games + end of season tournament. Players will receive a reversible jersey and shorts registration. Games will be held on the weekend, but no schedule can be set until after teams are finalized.​

 

*It is recommended that each player has their own ball to bring to practices. Coaches will have limited supply of basketballs to use at practices.

TRIBE/LADY TRIBE BASKETBALL

CWJRD will continue to offer Tribe/Lady Tribe Travel basketball for those seeking a higher competition level. These travel teams participate in the Central Ohio Basketball Association (COBA) and a few additional tournaments throughout the season.
 
Players will try-out for these grade-based teams in mid-October and must attend Canal Winchester Local Schools.  If you are not selected for the travel team, you will be placed on one of the recreational league teams. Tribe basketball is offered for 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade boys and Lady Tribe is offered for 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade girls. Travel basketball indicates a higher level of play; games are within the greater Columbus area. All teams will play on a 10' rim and 28.5" ball.
 
If you are interested in trying out for a travel team, please indicate so on your registration and tryout information will be sent to you. You will register at the regular fee amount. If you are selected for the travel team, the additional fees will be added to your registration. Practices will start in November. Travel teams can anticipate a 20-30 game season that includes approximately 3 tournaments. Players will receive reversible jersey and shorts and a shooting shirt.
 
Fee: The fee is dependent on how many tournaments your team chooses to do and also how many players are rostered.
