Softball can be found at the: G.Y.A.A. web site.           Divisions are based on your child’s age as of January 1, 2010       5 - 6 years old and under - Born 5/1/05 - 7/31/06       8 years old and under       10 years old and under       12 years old and under      New This Year CWRO has extended the minimum age for T-Ball registrations by 3 months to include children who would turn 5 during the months of the T-Ball season(Born 5/1/05 – 7/31/06). If your child is 4 but turns 5 during the T-Ball season, you must register during our in person signup dates. Play With a Friend Requests The CWRO Softball program understands the importance of the girls playing with their friends, and we have adopted a new play-with a friend policy. Only one friend request per player will be honored and both players must request each other on their registration. You can request other friends, but you must designate your primary friend request. Siblings on the same team are allowed their own friend requests. We will continue our commitment to fair and balanced teams, so we cannot guarantee all friend requests if there are challenges with keeping balanced teams, according to age and skill assessments. Returning Core Teams Players returning to the same division again this year will automatically be assigned to the same core team from last year, unless you request a change during registration. For example, if you were on a U8 team last season, and are returning to U8 again this season, you will be on the same team with the other returning U8 girls on your team last year. Assuming the same coach is returning as well, you can choose to request a new coach if you feel strongly enough. This would result in your assignment to an alternate team. The CWRO Softball program will make every effort to honor friend requests as well as new team or new coach requests; however, it may not always be possible to honor all combinations of requests as well as maintain fair and balanced teams. Please note about “playing up”: Our league divisions are organized around 2-year age intervals. Girls are expected to play in the youngest age group for which they are eligible. However, parents may decide that their child’s interest is best served by having them “play up” in the next older division. Parents may request for their child to “play up” by noting their request to play up in the comments during registration or by sending an email to the commissioner. Generally speaking, player size and skill level is reasonably similar at consecutive grade levels. There is no limit on the number of players on a team “playing up”. The results of the skills assessment are critical in helping us identify whether a player should be playing up. Every attempt will be made to approve the request to have a player “play up” however, there may be cases where we keep a player in their appropriate age division to even out the teams. REFUND POLICY All CWRO, Inc. activity registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Any CWRO, Inc. activity can fill to capacity earlier than the last day of registrations. Each activity has a published open registration time period. Late registrations will NOT be accepted. The CWRO, Inc. Refund Policy for all activities is a 50% refund of registration fee, not including processing fee of online registrations, up to the date that teams are formed and uniforms are ordered for the particular activity. No other refunds will apply or be made available for any other reason. There will be NO refunds after the activitys season starts. CWRO, Inc.is not responsible for inclement weather which results in cancelled activities. CWRO utilizes Sports Manager to develop and manage schedules. Please reference Sports Manager to review league schedules. Equipment CWRO provides each player with a shirt, socks and visor. CWRO also provides each team an equipment bag that contains softballs and catcher’s equipment (mask, shin guards and chest protector). Your child will need to provide her own softball glove, batting helmet with cage (face guard) and an approved softball bat. Approved Softball bats must state at least “Official Softball” or bear ASA approved certification mark. However, a bat shall not be listed on any ASA non-approved bat list. Players may wear shorts or pants, and shoes can either be tennis/gym type shoes or soccer/softball cleats.
