Softball Skills Assessment
A Skills Assessment will be conducted for all players in the CWJRD U8 and U10 softball divisions.
Saturday, April 12 from 1 P.M – 3 P.M. @ Hanners
Rain date will be Sunday, April 13 from 2 P.M. – 4 P.M. @ Hanners
The purpose of the Skills Assessment is to evaluate player skills so that we can:
- ensure that the player is signed up for the appropriate division;
- form balanced teams;
- used as a baseline for evaluating player progress for the softball season
The Skills Assessment is NOT for the purpose of "cutting" any players.
The Skills Assessment will consist of each player doing a short timed run, hitting 10 balls (soft toss), fielding 10 fly balls and making a throw to second base, and fielding 10 ground balls at shortstop and making a throw to first base. Please bring a glove and wear appropriate softball attire (No spikes, please). Unless the league informs you otherwise, you may assume that your child will play in the division that you requested on your registration application. In some cases, based on the Skills Assessment results, safety considerations, or available roster openings, the League will call you to suggest an alternate placement for your child.
Anyone interested in helping with the skills assessment please contact me by email or contact me at either of the numbers listed below.
Thanks,
Brian Auld
